Tango Cross Training - Balance and Conditioning
THIS CLASS IS ON HIATUS! Contact America to be notified when class starts again Tango dancers, both leads and follows, are paradoxes of strength and softness. What allows us to be fluid and free is the strength to hold our own balance. Technique is crucial, but proper muscle development can take good technique to a whole new level. Many different practices have exercises that are useful for tango. This class incorporates the most pertinent points from Pilates, Yoga and general fitness and applies them to tango. This is cross training for your tango! We will work on leg strength, balance and posture and then strectch to improve flexibility, torsion and fluidity. Followers: do you want to wear those sling-back, four inch heel Comme il Faut with no wobble in your step? Leaders: do you want to improve your connection, and ability to do extreme steps that require excellent balance and flexibility? Everyone: do you want to work on balance and core strength that carries over into your day to day life? This class is for you! It will strengthen and tone your legs and core and help to loosen up some muscles that take a lot of stress dancing for hours at the milongas. This class aims to help you be stronger, more centered and more free with your dance. Dress as for a yoga class (pants that you can move and stretch in) and bring a mat or towel if possible. We will work in dance shoes at the end of class, so bring a challenging pair!
